Based on my experience of watching Hurricane Katrina unfold on television news, these sculptures function as a clash between nature and the built environment. By incorporating video into my sculptural work, I am able to enhance the immediacy of the imagery, communicating with a familiar medium and commenting on the way in which we, as viewers, typically experience the outside world – through the mediated experience.

My sculptural videos are the link between weather as a reality and a metaphor to the interior space. Whether read as specifically weather or as a psychological storm, the video sculptures set the stage for the imagined occurrence in the interiors.  The shape of the structure (the house form) is a link back to my photographs, uniting the two expressions of my work and further enhancing the psychological interpretation.
